Nasheed: Does he deserve your vote

Now that the boogie man fp. Nasheed (Anni) is out of office, keep him like that on the streets. If the people of Maldives elect him again he will start his Revenge Strategy again on the people. We saw this during his rule, what did he do? He sacked every single person who was not a member of his party from the government. Elected again he will take revenge on every single person who did not participate in his rallies. He has openly said so.

Attending a meeting with his Zionist counterparts
A maniac and mentally disturbed person he would not hesitate to do anything. In his disturbed mind he believes Maldives belongs to him. He is a schizophrenic.  He promises the youth dreams of night clubs social clubs and all the stuff that entices the youth, but once in power he forgets all these promises and begin helping his colleagues rob the treasury.

Unfortunately some opportunistic youth in our nation persuades other innocent youth to join their cavalry to oppose what is good and side with evil. These young people are the advocates of evil. Nasheed behavior has much similarity with the devil in out religious teaching. I could picture him like a man with a tail and with an anchor shape tail end, Long ears and a crooked nose and a set of long Dracula teeth. He lures out youth to vocally voice out filthy words towards decent people, have hash oil, and take them into a trance where they fall prey to evil and eventually turn out to be hit men working for Nasheed revenge activities against opposition leaders and their families.

As usual, will not comment on his Zionist
connection when questioned
Nasheed doesn't seem to have knowledge of anything other than to be on the streets. Somehow he loves protests disruptions and chaos.  He doesn't seem to understand peacefulness, working together, amicably solving problems and forgiveness.  He is an introverted criminal mastermind full of vengeance and hatred.  Nasheed does not have the decency to talk without yelling. He is pressed into a hate machine and spreading the gospel of hate and animosity.

In conclusion I could say that this hate machine in on the loose. It would never stop until it destroys Maldives or get itself destroyed.  He would give messages of unity, justice and peace. But n actual fact he would be doing just the opposite. So does this lunatic man deserve your vote?

Good Luck Maldives you really have got a psychopath on the loose.

Maldivian Democracy and Lunacy

Military Chief Moosa Jaleel and Police Commissioner Ahmed Faseeh
summoned to 241 Committee of the Majlis. Clearly in violation of the
Maldivian Constitution and Contempt of Supreme Court Ruling.

The problem with Maldives is the alienation of the opposition by the govt. and the heavy handedness of the armed forces with the opposition parties. President Nasheed is just too immature to be the president that could bring the people together. Instead the hatred and vengeance of his strategy is forcing people out on to the streets. The young democracy of Maldives has frustrated the people by the slow pace for development and lack of law and order under the MDP (the ruling party). It seems incredible that the man, who came claiming transformation of a nation, has taken the nation 30 years back. From the start the regime seems to be on the defensive. It's like a battle for Male every street is crumbled on to protests, police assaults are further alienating the people.

The campaign is assiduously spreading into the atolls.  The danger is that once the entire nation plunges into this hopelessness the imperative of decent living no longer hold valid and a melancholic picture of the streets ruled by gangs and vandalism will be painted. It has been in the making for some time now. Political parties are using these gangs to intimidate the opposition resulting in the gangs getting better funding, organized and feared by the citizens. MPD commands the largest number of gangsters, the local police fear these gangs because action taken against these gangs could result in suffering of family members and relatives.

Raako Moosa Maniku
Radical MDP members like Alhan Fahmy and Raako Moosa openly refused to comply with rulings of the lower court and the Supreme Court. Can anyone imagine this?  Yet the Military and the Police are defending an apostate government. What is wrong with our Armed Forces and the Police? Don't they have brains to see this rouge party hijacking the whole nation? What benefit are these armed forces getting? Do they think they would be able to get away from this forever?  Soon the law will get hold of them, then it would too late to remind themselves of what they should have done and not done.

The evil that men do lives after them. Today the Maldivian Military top brass can bask with the Rouge politicians over beer and wine. But tomorrow when the patience of the citizens runs thin, they would come to face the bullets of this cruel and unjust military.

What confuses me is, why is the military and the police trying to defend just one lunatic president who is again and again out rightly, abusing the power and conspicuously and vehemently defeating the spirit of freedom by moving against the constitution? Does this lunatic mean more to Maldives than the 300,000 people of Maldives who doesn't support this man? Is defending this man more to Maldives, than the pain of the citizens? I think the time has come now for the officials of the Armed Forces to stand up for the rights of the citizens. In fact it is in your oath! This President has lost the legitimacy of representing the Maldivian people. Doesn't the armed force have conscience? Conscience is the chamber of justice and without this, it's a group of mercenaries.

The Nation’s top lawyers, the Supreme Court, the High Court, the credible politicians, the senior wise citizens, the educated folks of the nation, and the parlors of ordinary folks of the nation are saying President Nasheed is wrong and is now operating beyond the jurisdiction of the President. He is clearly is a threat to justice in the Maldives now. In fact he admitted that he would do things outside the law if he thinks he has to do. Isn’t this enough acknowledgment of the illegitimacy of the president? Despite all this, Maldivian Armed Forces ignorantly, like blind men are taking orders from an illegitimate government. Wonder where these people got educated if at all they have? What is the justification army officials like Moosa Jaleel, and Ibrahim Didi have for the breach of contempt, law and the trust of the Maldivian People have when they are out of office?

Justice and power must be brought together, so that whatever is just may be powerful, and whatever is powerful may be just. When Justice takes its course then authority and legitimacy of the legal promise must be respected. If not this country is not different from the Wild West ruled by the gun.

The Supreme Court's verdict is the insurance which we have on our lives and property. Obedience is the premium which we pay for it. Yet today MDP is trying to shake the whole justice system, just because the thuggery they employ on political opponents are not entertained by our justice system.

In conclusion Honorable Judges of the Maldivian Justice System, Justice must never mirror evil; Justice must always be a mirror for Evil so that all may see. For the Armed Forces, your failure to stand for what is morally right is the prelude to what is criminally wrong. No one has ever regretted doing what the people of a nation wanted.

"There is no greater breach of the public trust than knowingly misleading the country into war. In a democracy, we simply cannot tolerate the abuse of this trust by the government". Senator John Kerry

Could Dr. Mohamed Waheed be the Solution?

Dr. Mohamed Waheed
(Vice President of Maldives)
At a time of growing discontent among the public on the issue of  President Nasheed’s violation of the Constitution running into its third week,  Maldives is goggling for a viable democratic solution to this standoff between the government and the opposition. A close consideration of the Vice President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Maniku has become an imperative.

Referring to the ongoing stalemate he writes in his website “The most important and most precious dividend from the democracy struggle in Maldives has been freedom from fear. It is the knowledge that no one of us will be dragged out of our beds in the middle of the night and taken to an undisclosed location. The moment we deny this freedom from one person, we deny that freedom for all.”

The first ever Maldivian to receive a Doctorate of Philosophy from Stanford University, Vice President Dr. Waheed has demonstrated restraint and maturity as a hardened politician whilst in the midst of the ongoing political crisis. One couldn’t expect more from a man with a Master’s degree in Political Science from Stanford University and years of experience on as an international civil servant behind him.

Dr. Waheed served the United Nations in various capacities, and in various countries ranging from Tanzania to Bangladesh, from UNICEF Headquarters in New York to Kathmandu, Nepal and in Afghanistan, where in the aftermath of the American War he was assigned to help with the reconstruction efforts to build up the Education Ministry of Afghanistan from scratch. He also served as the UNICEF's representative to the body responsible for reforming UN organizations.

Dr. Waheed returned to the Maldives to contribute to process of political development and bringing democracy to Maldives. In June 2008, after several unsuccessful attempts to work with  Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Dr. Waheed formed Gaumee Itthihaad Party and under a coalition agreement with the MDP, he ran for vice president and was elected during the 2008 Presidential Elections.

His political career has not been a smooth one. In 1989 Dr. Waheed contested for one of the two seats from Male in the Majlis; his popularity was  challenged by the establishment of the Bimbi Force   which was responsible for a number of arson attacks as well as a campaign of intimidation directed towards him and his supporters.  During the leadership race immediately after the formation of the MDP a clandestine coalition of political leaders who feared Dr. Waheed’s comeback mounted a campaign to defame him by attacking both him and his family.

The common man is a priority for Dr. Waheed
Dr. Waheed received the blows of his political opponents with humility and restraint. He proved himself worthy of consideration clearly as the leader of choice, with qualities second to none in the political arena. “Maldives can gain from the diplomatic skills, expertise and experiences of this man” said one foreign diplomat.  Waheed has clearly demonstrated his ability as a skipper armed with the skills and tools   to maneuver Maldives from these troubled seas to calmer waters.

Whilst he continues to exercise his patience and tolerance even from within the framework of the very government that he condemns.  Mother Maldives is a crying, she is crying out for protection, protection for her children. She is crying for protection to those who are weeping every night out of fear that they may be the next one to be dragged out of their bed in the middle of the night and taken to an undisclosed location.

Coalition Leaders meet Vice President
The only viable option for saving Maldives from catastrophe
God fearing Nation loving Maldivians should put aside the political differences and prejudice give due consideration to Dr. Waheed today, not because he is Waheed the Vice President, but because he is the only viable solution we have now to come out of this political situation, and continue on with our new found love affair with democracy until 2013, without setting examples and paving the way for coup d'état's, government overthrow scenarios and social unrest in our little society in future.

Unfolding Maldives Judicial Melodrama

Senior MDP Officials and the President is in Criminal Contempt of Court.

With little hope of a negotiated settlement on the unfolding Melodrama of President Nasheed’s rule of Maldives, he now appears to be bracing in for the ultimate fight like Colonel Muamar Gadhafi, Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak did during their last days in office. Self-proclaimed democrat Mohamed Nasheed’s short period in office has been mystified with arbitrary arrest of opposition leaders, seizures of Judges and forceful shutting of the Supreme Court of Maldives.

On the wee hours of 16th January the nation was plunged into yet another chaotic situation with the abduction of the Chief Judge Abdulla Mohamed (Abdulla Qazi) from his house and holding him in involuntary confinement without any legal basis by the military. This action was prompted after Judge Abdulla Mohamed released an opposition leader who was detained by the police without a warrant for allegedly defaming the government.

The High Court and the Supreme Court issued judgment to release Judge Abdulla Mohamed immediately without precondition.  President Nasheed has failed to comply with the ruling thus far. The opposition claims “The President is in Contempt of Supreme Court” and demands legal action. A Joint anti-Nasheed demonstration is now making its way into the second week in Male.

Mr. Umar Naseer Vice President of PPM claims, they will continue the demonstrations until Judge Abdulla is released, the authority of the Judiciary established and those guilty of criminal offences against the constitution and the people of Maldives are punished.

In his weekly radio address to the nation the President claimed Constitutional Authority over the Judiciary and the Legislature to ensure smooth functioning of the Constitution, but stopped short of declaring Martial Law and suspension of the Constitution, although on previous occasions he has been quoted as saying that the Constitution is in state of Suspense.

The wrangling over interpretation of the 2008 constitution’s definitions on the rights and responsibilities of the three separated powers amongst the political parties continues, with each side differing in their interpretations. Refusal of the Government and failure of the opposition to follow constitutional guidelines set out for the interpretation of the Constitution through the Supreme Court is fuelling the Oppositions March now, well into its eighth day.

Chapter II - Fundamental Freedoms Article 69 of the  2008 Constitution states “ No provision of the Constitution shall be interpreted or translated in a manner that would grant to the State or any group or person the right to engage in any activity or perform any act aimed at the destruction of the rights and freedoms set out in this Constitution”.
Chapter IV - The Judiciary, Article 145c goes on to state; “The Supreme Court shall be the final authority on the interpretation of the Constitution, the Law, and any other matter dealt with by a court of law  .

In a leaked recording of the President’s address to the Police on January 26, 2012, he expresses his decision to instruct the Ministry of Finance to withhold the salaries of all the Judges in all the lower courts of Maldives. This is without doubt an attempt to disrupt the process of Justice in the country which tantamount to nothing short of criminal contempt of Court.

Contempt of Court? Yes indeed! Any willful disobedience to, or disregard of, a court order or any misconduct in the presence of a court; any action that interferes with a judge's ability to administer justice or that insults the dignity of the court; is a contempt of court.  It is a charge which can result in fines and jail time and should not stop short of an Impeachment in the case of a President being in contempt of Court.

There are two types of contempt civil and criminal contempt. In addition, contempt can be either direct (occurs in front of the judge and disrupts the court proceedings) or indirect (occurs outside the presence of the judge). Civil contempt occurs when a person refuses to obey a court order. Civil contempt can be "purged" by following the court order. A fine, confinement in jail, or both can be imposed for civil contempt. Criminal contempt involves conduct that interferes with or obstructs justice. Examples of criminal contempt include threatening or insulting a judge or witness and disobeying a subpoena to produce evidence. With criminal contempt, the act of contempt has been completed and the contempt cannot be "purged." The punishment is imposed to vindicate the court's authority.
On a sad note it appears that the Maldivian honey moon with democracy has turned into a wild lusty Demon-cracy with the police forces by night.  The fear of this scenario repetition in subsequent administrations is beginning to baffle the public.  The question that remains to be answered is how could this lunacy be stopped, and what measures need to be taken prevent repetition of abuse of power by subsequent leaders?
