RK Capital Maldives Connection

Fuad Thaufeeq
A letter from OCBC Bank addressed to Maldivian Elections Commissioner Mr. Fuad Thaufeeq notifying a Telegraphic Transfer of US $ 1.2 million was leaked out by the Maldivian Post Office officials.  The copy was bid for as high as MVR 400,000.00 but was caught on empty hook.
The money was wired from RK Capital Management, Pembroke Bermuda.  RK Capital Management (Red Kite) is owned by Millionaire Michael Farmer, friend of British Prime Minister and Conservative Party Treasurer[1]. Party officials benefit from the RK Connection, recently, David Cameron, faced embarrassment, after it was revealed that his new party treasurer, Michael Farmer, funded his son’s membership of the notorious Bullingdon Club.

Michael Farmer

RK Capital, founded by Michael Farmer, David Lilley and Oskar Lewnowski III, (domiciled in Pembroke, Bermuda), operates from London and New York and manages more than $1 billion in three funds that trade in industrial and precious metals. He also runs London- based RK Capital Management LLP, and is active both in the church and in politics. He has given millions of pounds in donations to Britain’s ruling Conservative Party, saying it has done more than rivals to promote family values. [2]

The Elections commission of Maldives comprise of five members appointed for a term of five years by the Parliament (Majlis) of Maldives. The current was appointed on November 24, 2009 and matures on 2014. Mr. Fuad Thaufeeq the Elections Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Mr.  Ahmed Fayaaz Hassan was nominees of MDP. [3]

President Mohamed Nasheed the British public schoolboy with Tory links relied heavily on the Conservative party for its expertise in campaigning and policy development.  His election campaign was run by James McGrath, the former aide to the London mayor Boris Johnson. David Cameron even telephoned Mr. Nasheed, to congratulate him on his victory in 2008. [4]

Nasheed shocked the world by resigning on the February 07, 2012 having failed to crush the opposition led demonstrations that calling for the Criminal Court’s Chief Judge Abdulla Mohamed is in custody of the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) since he was arrested against court orders on the 16th of this month.[5] An investigation into the resignation concluded its finding in the “CoNI” Report (Commission on National Inquiry) [6]

Mohamed Nasheed
Despite the several charges that were filed against Nasheed, he was permitted to contest the Presidential Elections, against the laws and regulations of Maldives.  Under pressure from the international community particularly Britain, Canada and neighboring India the authorities manipulated the situation for confirm to foreign pressure.  On numerous occasions Nasheed concealed his political intensions with religious and medical motives to leave the country avoiding court summons.   Lastly and notably he avoided the law by hiding himself in the Indian High Commission.  The Haveeru called it “refuge from the Law”[7]

MDP headed by Nasheed was good at smear campaigns.  During the 2013 Presidential campaign, MDP had a plan to win the election on the first round and called it “Eh Burun”.  This was fiddly for the average person though not for the intelligent.  Disturbing facts were revealed with the Supreme Court ruling to annul the first round of the Elections of 2013. [8]

The Presidential Elections of 2013 has been smeared with charges of deceit, fraud and enticement. Presidential Contender and Business tycoon Gasim Ibrahim filed a case against the Commission following election for fraud and enticement.

MDP sponsored Elections Commissioner and deputy had been unusually vocal.   Commission president Fuad Thaufeeq announced that the runoff would be held on Saturday despite the Supreme Court injunction[9] although he later surrendered to the SC ruling.

Notice of the telegraphic transfer to Mr. Fuad Thaufeeq had come on the eve of the Presidential Election (28/08/2013).  The first round of voting took place on the (07/09/2013). To authenticate the document we contacted Commissioner Fuad Thaufeeq, he refused to comment on it.

Maldivian Democracy and Lunacy

Military Chief Moosa Jaleel and Police Commissioner Ahmed Faseeh
summoned to 241 Committee of the Majlis. Clearly in violation of the
Maldivian Constitution and Contempt of Supreme Court Ruling.

The problem with Maldives is the alienation of the opposition by the govt. and the heavy handedness of the armed forces with the opposition parties. President Nasheed is just too immature to be the president that could bring the people together. Instead the hatred and vengeance of his strategy is forcing people out on to the streets. The young democracy of Maldives has frustrated the people by the slow pace for development and lack of law and order under the MDP (the ruling party). It seems incredible that the man, who came claiming transformation of a nation, has taken the nation 30 years back. From the start the regime seems to be on the defensive. It's like a battle for Male every street is crumbled on to protests, police assaults are further alienating the people.

The campaign is assiduously spreading into the atolls.  The danger is that once the entire nation plunges into this hopelessness the imperative of decent living no longer hold valid and a melancholic picture of the streets ruled by gangs and vandalism will be painted. It has been in the making for some time now. Political parties are using these gangs to intimidate the opposition resulting in the gangs getting better funding, organized and feared by the citizens. MPD commands the largest number of gangsters, the local police fear these gangs because action taken against these gangs could result in suffering of family members and relatives.

Raako Moosa Maniku
Radical MDP members like Alhan Fahmy and Raako Moosa openly refused to comply with rulings of the lower court and the Supreme Court. Can anyone imagine this?  Yet the Military and the Police are defending an apostate government. What is wrong with our Armed Forces and the Police? Don't they have brains to see this rouge party hijacking the whole nation? What benefit are these armed forces getting? Do they think they would be able to get away from this forever?  Soon the law will get hold of them, then it would too late to remind themselves of what they should have done and not done.

The evil that men do lives after them. Today the Maldivian Military top brass can bask with the Rouge politicians over beer and wine. But tomorrow when the patience of the citizens runs thin, they would come to face the bullets of this cruel and unjust military.

What confuses me is, why is the military and the police trying to defend just one lunatic president who is again and again out rightly, abusing the power and conspicuously and vehemently defeating the spirit of freedom by moving against the constitution? Does this lunatic mean more to Maldives than the 300,000 people of Maldives who doesn't support this man? Is defending this man more to Maldives, than the pain of the citizens? I think the time has come now for the officials of the Armed Forces to stand up for the rights of the citizens. In fact it is in your oath! This President has lost the legitimacy of representing the Maldivian people. Doesn't the armed force have conscience? Conscience is the chamber of justice and without this, it's a group of mercenaries.

The Nation’s top lawyers, the Supreme Court, the High Court, the credible politicians, the senior wise citizens, the educated folks of the nation, and the parlors of ordinary folks of the nation are saying President Nasheed is wrong and is now operating beyond the jurisdiction of the President. He is clearly is a threat to justice in the Maldives now. In fact he admitted that he would do things outside the law if he thinks he has to do. Isn’t this enough acknowledgment of the illegitimacy of the president? Despite all this, Maldivian Armed Forces ignorantly, like blind men are taking orders from an illegitimate government. Wonder where these people got educated if at all they have? What is the justification army officials like Moosa Jaleel, and Ibrahim Didi have for the breach of contempt, law and the trust of the Maldivian People have when they are out of office?

Justice and power must be brought together, so that whatever is just may be powerful, and whatever is powerful may be just. When Justice takes its course then authority and legitimacy of the legal promise must be respected. If not this country is not different from the Wild West ruled by the gun.

The Supreme Court's verdict is the insurance which we have on our lives and property. Obedience is the premium which we pay for it. Yet today MDP is trying to shake the whole justice system, just because the thuggery they employ on political opponents are not entertained by our justice system.

In conclusion Honorable Judges of the Maldivian Justice System, Justice must never mirror evil; Justice must always be a mirror for Evil so that all may see. For the Armed Forces, your failure to stand for what is morally right is the prelude to what is criminally wrong. No one has ever regretted doing what the people of a nation wanted.

"There is no greater breach of the public trust than knowingly misleading the country into war. In a democracy, we simply cannot tolerate the abuse of this trust by the government". Senator John Kerry
