The Anti-Corruption Commission of Maldives - Is it corrupt?

President Nasheed's three years in office was the most grief-stricken era in the history of Maldives. Nasheed's government nominated officials to independent institutions vested with broad powers to oversee the functioning of the government. However, to the dismay of the helpless citizens, Nasheed ingeniously grabbed the opportunity to recruit his cronies so his party’s involvement in massive corruption to make the party wealthy will have no repercussions.

This is evident looking at the status of the nation’s economy. The national debt went from 5Billion Rufiyaa to 26Billion Rufiyaa. State owned enterprises were squandered mercilessly; some even had to declare bankruptcy. Selling the airport to GMR is a classic example. The SAARC convention held in Addu Atoll at the cost of MVR. 1Billion, and on goes the list.

All these cases were filed with the anti-corruption commission, but none of them were investigated to date. I am surprised why the Anti-Corruption Commission is refusing to look into these cases. Investigating the truth behind this reluctance, the unfolding story was shocking and disturbing. Hence I decided that it’s my duty to put this into paper and inform the Maldivian public of the “Maldivian Free Masons” that has come into existence with the new found love affair with democracy in Maldives. This MFM as they call themselves has infiltrated to almost all the independent commissions, particularly the Anti-Corruption Commission, where the President of the Commission Abdulla Luthufi is a board member of the Maldivian Free Masons. The connection between the political parties and the MFM is even more shocking. ACC President Luthufi a member of PPM, the Deputy President of ACC is a member of the MDP. Both these parties systematically control the anti-corruption schemes and schedules. They decide what’s to be investigated and what not to be. Both leaders report to Jangiyaa Nazim who is the designated Chief Executive of the MFM Board. Nazim is also the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament.

The MFM board is composed of Abdulla Shaahid Vice Chairman ( Speaker of the Majlis)  Jangiyaa Nazim CEO ( Deputy Speaker Majlis ) Ibrahim Husain Zaki (MDP STRONGMAN and advisor to President Nasheed) Other hidden members were not exposed as they were too inside to be exposed.

ACC takes instructions from Jangiyaa Nazim on cases that has to be under taken, and on the people whose integrity to be tarnished. Abdulla Luthufi follows instructions judiciously and execute. The MFM believes that in so doing, they could keep the government officials in check allowing them to manipulate the nation’s financial resources for their own gains. The MFM has employed their henchmen in state owned enterprises to sniff out funds. Since the appointment of the current members to ACC, the Maldives corruption index went up on the world corruption index.

It's a sad reality, but how many of us know this. The MFM has systematically filtered into every vital institutions of the nation. I only hope and pray that they don't get into hospitals which could mean our kidneys and vital organs could be sold for a price.

Nasheed: Does he deserve your vote

Now that the boogie man fp. Nasheed (Anni) is out of office, keep him like that on the streets. If the people of Maldives elect him again he will start his Revenge Strategy again on the people. We saw this during his rule, what did he do? He sacked every single person who was not a member of his party from the government. Elected again he will take revenge on every single person who did not participate in his rallies. He has openly said so.

A maniac and mentally disturbed person he would not hesitate to do anything. In his disturbed mind he believes Maldives belongs to him. He is a schizophrenic.  He promises the youth dreams of night clubs social clubs and all the stuff that entices the youth, but once in power he forgets all these promises and begin helping his colleagues rob the treasury.

Unfortunately some opportunistic youth in our nation persuades other innocent youth to join their cavalry to oppose what is good and side with evil. These young people are the advocates of evil. Nasheed behavior has much similarity with the devil in out religious teaching. I could picture him like a man with a tail and with an anchor shape tail end, Long ears and a crooked nose and a set of long Dracula teeth. He lures out youth to vocally voice out filthy words towards decent people, have hash oil, and take them into a trance where they fall prey to evil and eventually turn out to be hit men working for Nasheed revenge activities against opposition leaders and their families.

Nasheed doesn't seem to have knowledge of anything other than to be on the streets. Somehow he loves protests disruptions and chaos.  He doesn't seem to understand peacefulness, working together, amicably solving problems and forgiveness.  He is an introverted criminal mastermind full of vengeance and hatred.  Nasheed does not have the decency to talk without yelling. He is pressed into a hate machine and spreading the gospel of hate and animosity.

In conclusion I could say that this hate machine in on the loose. It would never stop until it destroys Maldives or get itself destroyed.  He would give messages of unity, justice and peace. But n actual fact he would be doing just the opposite. So does this lunatic man deserve your vote?

Unfolding Maldives Judicial Melodrama

Senior MDP Officials and the President is in Criminal Contempt of Court.

With little hope of a negotiated settlement on the unfolding Melodrama of President Nasheed’s rule of Maldives, he now appears to be bracing in for the ultimate fight like Colonel Muamar Gadhafi, Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak did during their last days in office. Self-proclaimed democrat Mohamed Nasheed’s short period in office has been mystified with arbitrary arrest of opposition leaders, seizures of Judges and forceful shutting of the Supreme Court of Maldives.

On the wee hours of 16^th January the nation was plunged into yet another chaotic situation with the abduction of the Chief Judge Abdulla Mohamed (Abdulla Qazi) from his house and holding him in involuntary confinement without any legal basis by the military. This action was prompted after Judge Abdulla Mohamed released an opposition leader who was detained by the police without a warrant for allegedly defaming the government.  

The High Court and the Supreme Court issued judgment to release Judge Abdulla Mohamed immediately without precondition.  President Nasheed has failed to comply with the ruling thus far. The opposition claims “The President is in Contempt of Supreme Court” and demands legal action. A Joint anti-Nasheed demonstration is now making its way into the second week in Male. 

Mr. Umar Naseer Vice President of PPM claims, they will continue the demonstrations until Judge Abdulla is released, the authority of the Judiciary established and those guilty of criminal offences against the constitution and the people of Maldives are punished.

In his weekly radio address to the nation the President claimed Constitutional Authority over the Judiciary and the Legislature to ensure smooth functioning of the Constitution, but stopped short of declaring Martial Law and suspension of the Constitution, although on previous occasions he has been quoted as saying that the Constitution is in state of Suspense. 

The wrangling over interpretation of the 2008 constitution’s definitions on the rights and responsibilities of the three separated powers amongst the political parties continues, with each side differing in their interpretations. Refusal of the Government and failure of the opposition to follow constitutional guidelines set out for the interpretation of the Constitution through the Supreme Court is fuelling the Oppositions March now, well into its eighth day.

Chapter II - Fundamental Freedoms Article 69 of the  2008 Constitution states “ No provision of the Constitution shall be interpreted or translated in a manner that would grant to the State or any group or person the right to engage in any activity or perform any act aimed at the destruction of the rights and freedoms set out in this Constitution”.  

Chapter IV - The Judiciary, Article 145c goes on to state; “The Supreme Court shall be the final authority on the interpretation of the Constitution, the Law, and any other matter dealt with by a court of law ” .

In a leaked recording of the President’s address to the Police on January 26, 2012, he expresses his decision to instruct the Ministry of Finance to withhold the salaries of all the Judges in all the lower courts of Maldives. This is without doubt an attempt to disrupt the process of Justice in the country which tantamount to nothing short of criminal contempt of Court. 

Contempt of Court? Yes indeed! Any willful disobedience to, or disregard of, a court order or any misconduct in the presence of a court; any action that interferes with a judge's ability to administer justice or that insults the dignity of the court; is a contempt of court.  It is a charge which can result in fines and jail time and should not stop short of an Impeachment in the case of a President being in contempt of Court.

There are two types of contempt civil and criminal contempt. In addition, contempt can be either direct (occurs in front of the judge and disrupts the court proceedings) or indirect (occurs outside the presence of the judge). Civil contempt occurs when a person refuses to obey a court order. Civil contempt can be "purged" by following the court order. A fine, confinement in jail, or both can be imposed for civil contempt. Criminal contempt involves conduct that interferes with or obstructs justice. Examples of criminal contempt include threatening or insulting a judge or witness and disobeying a subpoena to produce evidence. With criminal contempt, the act of contempt has been completed and the contempt cannot be "purged." The punishment is imposed to vindicate the court's authority.

On a sad note it appears that the Maldivian honey moon with democracy has turned into a wild lusty Demon-cracy with the police forces by night.  The fear of this scenario repetition in subsequent administrations is beginning to baffle the public.  The question that remains to be answered is how could this lunacy be stopped, and what measures need to be taken prevent repetition of abuse of power by subsequent leaders? 

Freighted President angered by size and scale of Demonstration spends Christmas in Dhonnakulhi.

against  President Nasheed's Government  extremist policies in Maldives.

The message that echoed from the mass demonstration organized against MDP Government on December 23, 2011 was very clear. Nasheed interpreted the call as usual in its very extreme view; not unusual of an extremist.  

What he and the radical government refuse to accept is that prostitution is viewed as a form of slavery in civilized societies and not as liberation of women. In many countries it is banned by law. Although it’s illegal here in the Maldives, Mr. Nasheed and his cabinet seems to view it as a profession worthy of women and a viable source of income for them folks. 

The demonstration was organized by a consortium of political and social parties; Adhalath Party was one of them. They had a five point agenda for Nasheed.

1. Close the Prostitution houses run in “Male and other inhabited islands registered as Spa’s” during the previous regime.
2. Withdraw permission if granted for Al El (Israeli Airline) to land in Maldivian Airports
3. Remove the Buddhist Statues that were put up in Addu to commemorate the opening of the SAARC Summit
4. Stop the selling of Alcohol in inhabited islands, and contain it to Tourist Resort only
5. Nasheed apologize to the people for the blasphemous speech given by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Navanethem Pillai while on invitation from the President in Maldives to the Citizens Majlis (the Parliament)

The Consortium demanded government closes Spas and Massage Parlors registered in Male and other inhabited islands that engaged in prostitution, not the spa-baths in the resorts. Nasheed who calls himself a moderate, more often than never, always took the extreme view and subsequent action. In this case too he has behaved as an extremist.

The mammoth demonstration of freighting proportion by Maldivian standards went on from 16:00 to the early hours of the next day. Despite repeated efforts, by the Home Minister and the President, the police refused to step in to breakup the peaceful and highly organised demonstration. Nasheed, mad and obsessed opted to take the extremist stand on the five demands to the Government.

Angered by MDP’s failure to organize a counter demonstration, Nasheed retreated to a Donnakulhi Tourist Resort in the north of the country  where he participated in Christmas Celebrations and left for Sri Lanka on (invitation) said a press release from the President’s Office.

Driven by free mason philosophies for the Nasheed’s government staying aloft is becoming a daily fight against established norms in this country. This fight against government and nation has brought the country to its knees. Who prevails is to be seen in 2013.

Signs of decay within the party are already visible, two days ago the Minister of Finance and his Deputy and the state minister for Finance and the State Financial Advisor all resigned in just a span of two days. Nasheed should be looking for Aladdin’s lamp in Muliaage.  

The opposition has wowed to ban MDP after coming to power in 2013 for the mayhem and disruption MDP has caused and brought to these peaceful islands and people that thrived a smiling economy.

The Maldives Police force has to rid itself of terrorist elements planted in the its ranks by the MDP government, otherwise, the sad possibility that the good name of the many professional police service men and women in Maldives may be tarnished by the evil acts and crooked deeds of a few.

Many young men and women join the armed forces and the police primarily for the good pay, benefits and rewards of the job. We must not forget that morality and conviction play a great part in the decision to undertake assignments. Not everyone is a mercenary, nor will the great many tolerate idiocracy beyond simple humor.

Mr. Chief Commissioner is said to be battling his conviction to stay and be the incriminated or to resign and be honorable.  Many young nation loving policemen and women are fighting their convictions too. Mr. President and the Minister of Home Affairs are fully aware of this dire situation among the ranks of the Police.

The Dark Forces within the Police fancy this ruthless behavior as the Youth of Hitler did during the Nazi war in Europe. In the name of protecting people they go on revenge reprisals against innocent citizens going about their everyday lives. They arrest innocent victims of the violent and ruthless demonstrations sponsored and headed by of MDP’s Cabinet Ministers, Parliament Members and radical elements within the party ranks.

There are many reasons for this;

1. This government has molded the police force as a Para military force to protect the rulers against the public. And the bedrock of this thinking is carved into the minds of the force and the walls of the institution.
2.   Most people in these Police forces do not have a decent education, and this has been the avenue for a so called “decent” work with lots of immunity. Only requirement is show your wickedness.
3. Gets to work with the peddlers and has the opportunity to work with impunity to get rich fast.
4.  The Government of the day needs these street dogs to bark at the people and terrorize so that the people would live in fear and uncertainty, while the looters fill in their coffers.

Just like in an old cowboy movie these renegade officers has taken control of the whole Police Force, and as a top lawyer in Maldives, Azima Shakoor said, “has turned the Maldives to a captured state”. Superintendent Jinnah is the chief architect of the plan. He has modeled himself like the former Executioner Adam Zahir, now retired and living in safe harbor in UK.

Monthly training programs are ongoing on how to terrorize the citizens.  This training comes handy for the Government in keeping the people wrapped in fear while the rulers pursue looting of the public funds.

These articles are written because we don’t want history to forget these ruthless people with Saddam Hussein Mentality within our society and especially within our police force. We want their children, sisters and their parents to understand that. These are evil people terrorizing the innocent citizens and the police force. Let this echo to all Maldives and Maldivians “MDP, Please Stop your terrorist activities you are forcing us to take reprisals action”.

The Areca nut is the seed of the Areca palm (Areca catechu), which grows in much of the tropical Pacific, Asia, and parts of east Africa. It is commercially available in dried, cured, and fresh forms. Usually a few slices of the nut are wrapped in a Betel leaf along with lime and may include clove, cardamom etc. for extra flavoring.  Areca nuts are chewed with betel leaf for their effects as a mild stimulant, causing a mild hot sensation in the body and slightly heightened alertness, although the effects vary from person to person.

The high rate of oral cancer in India is due to the chewing of betel preparations. This can be attributed to the betel leaf, the areca nut, and to the tobacco which is added to some betel preparations. There is an association between the chewing of betel preparations and oral and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. The addition of tobacco leaf is the most harmful and addictive component to the chewing mixture. It was introduced during colonial times a mere few centuries ago.

The Male City Council have embarked on an ambitious program to plant the Are-ca nut palms on both sides of Majeedi Magu in Male.  Make Male Green and the People Sick (MMGPS) was launched by the Mayor Maizan Ali Maniku and President Mohamed Nasheed. This program is already bearing fruits.  The government hopes that it can cut the imports of Areca Nuts to Maldives by a third by the year 2013.

I believe that the MDP Government has officially launched its "Prescription Begging" program for the sick and needy. Please be ready with at least Rf. 50.00 in your hand to give out, when they come knocking at your door. After all although Anni and the rest of the gang are in France, Norway and Italy, those who ill afford are here knocking at your door. HELP them.

Madhana is soon to announce bankruptcy due to over expenditure and mismanagement (a symptomatic characteristic of MDP). Mr. Anni has already announced that with effect from January 2012, a new and much better medical insurance program will replace Madhana.... That's it.

Since MDP came to office in 2008, Madhana is headed by a person who have served term in jail for stealing a laptop from a shop.  ... The inevitable is here .

Almost 2013 Election

It is very unlikely that a single political party will manage the first round of voting in Maldives this time on. Success in the 2013 Elections will depend on the party that manages to come out with maximum tie-ups and alliances. It's a reference to tie-ups that are productive and generate votes, not those that are unyielding and burdensome where the probability of undesirable result tend to be high.

MDP is quite correctly described as the (Most Distrusted Party) in the Maldives in the article “What is the Political future of our country?” and by the way I like that acronym. Two players that would matter in the forthcoming elections are DRP and PPM. Limping behind these two parties, slandering and defaming their way down the 2013 election lane would be MDP solo without any allies.

For a better understanding of our rationale, we need to look at the grouping that made up the second round of voting in 2008

Do you see the difference that the Mighty Coalition against DRP managed to secure? it's only 8.33%. DRP then led by President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom was a popular party indeed.

The analysis of the first round results tells us an interesting story. From the figures above, it is very evident that although DRP was singled out to be thrown out of office on the second round of voting. The percentage of votes secured by the coalition working together in the second round was only 5.31% more than the sum total of the votes the managed to secure working separately in the first round of voting.   And on the second round, the MDP coalition of all the political parties managed only 8.33% more than what DRP single handedly secured on the second round. This is a point to note, in support of our argument regarding 2013.

Looking at the facts and figures in retrospect, we can establish the true gauge of MDP today and predict the 2013 election. First, we acknowledge and value the contribution of alliance members such as Dr. Hassan Saeed, Mr. Gasim Ibrahim during the second round of voting.  Together they commanded 31.89% of the votes in the first round.  So take away the contribution of these two alliance members, MDP was left with a true value of 21.76% a near approximation of its round one run value of 24.91% of which 3.15%  could be attributed to as Gaumee Itthihaad (GIP) Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Maniku contribution.

 In 2013, the table will be turned around.  MDP has failed to be accepted as a viable government it is seen as a party that has not matured and not maldivianised enough to govern this country. MDP failed to understand that we are protective of our religion and country.  During the known 800 years of written history of Maldives, our forefathers have died and martyred for Islam and these islands we call Dhivehi Raajje.  Here is what an insider of MDP said “We shall stand against all forces from within and without that determines to split our nation in the name of development”. 

People still feel and fear the sense of insecurity that governed us over the years and to a great extent true even today.  The Nasheed Administration changed fear factor methods from corporal punishment and imprisonment to economic seclusion and social onslaught.  It wouldn’t be wrong therefore to say that the vast majority of our population suffers from Stockholm syndrome .

MDP boasts of an increased membership since they came to power.  These signatures were given in return for material benefit and social security guarantees; it is not a guarantee of a vote.  MDP insiders believe that it has only 19000 voters that are willing to vote to keep the party in power.  The rest of the signatures are only on paper. The realization that MDP has taken us several years back in time fifteen years, if not ten, is something for which many people will avenge MDP in 2013.
